April 23rd started off like any other Saturday. After a morning of yard work, Alicia and Kyle grabbed coffees and headed into the city for a “day date” that Kyle had planned. Unbeknownst to Alicia, Kyle had created a scavenger hunt that would walk the two of them down memory lane. She would later find out that each destination throughout the day symbolized a key aspect of their relationship.
Clue #1
The first clue of the scavenger hunt led them to the place where their love story began: the Boston Public Garden. This was at the height of Covid when outdoor mask mandates were enforced. Alicia and Kyle didn’t let that deter them from having an amazing time discussing everything from traveling to career aspirations.
Clue #2
Clue number two led the couple down Newbury Street to a pizza place called Dirty Water. Being self-proclaimed food critics, this is where Alicia first asked Kyle to rate pizza on a scale from 1-10. Needless to say they quickly realized that they were soulmates!
Clue #3
After a few slices (rated 6.7 in case you were wondering), Alicia was left deciphering a hand drawn map serving as the third clue. Alicia and Kyle then made their way along uneven cobblestone sidewalks to their old stomping grounds in the historic neighborhood of Beacon Hill. There, the couple spent the first year of their relationship in a spacious 400 square foot apartment which brought them closer – literally and figuratively.
Clue #4
The final clue described the Esplanade, Kyle’s favorite place in Boston. Alicia immediately knew to head over the Longfellow Bridge where they would often take afternoon walks together. They stopped at an alcove on the bridge to soak in the view of Boston’s skyline.
Alicia, completely unaware of what was about to happen, stared off into the horizon and reflected on the day’s activities. When she looked down, Kyle was on one knee holding a ring and asked, “Will you marry me?”
She said yes!
